WordPress Themes FAQ

1. Install Theme

There are 2 ways to install WordPress themes:

A. Using admin panel:

  1. Download the latest version of the theme, go to your ThemeForest account > Downloads (http://themeforest.net/downloads), locate the theme, click on Download button and select the "Installable WordPress file only" option.
  2. Log in to the WordPress administration panel
  3. Select in side menu Appearance > Themes
  4. Click Add New button
  5. Click Upload Theme button
  6. Open theme archive and click Install Now

B. Using FTP access:

  1. Using an FTP client to access your host web server, open directory to copy Theme in the wp-content/themes directory provided by WordPress.
  2. Extract theme from archive and upload to the host server in wp-cintent/theme/theme_name

1.1 Activate theme

When installation process is complete, your should activate new theme:

  1. Select in side menu Appearance > Themes
  2. Find new theme in list and click Active button

1.2 Installing required and recommended plugins

When your theme is active, you will see notice about required and recommended plugins. If you can't see it, select in side menu Appearance > Install Plugins and install all plugins.

1.3 Importing demo data

  1. Select in side menu [Theme name] > Demo import 
  2. You have several demos, choose one by clicking Import button
  3. After demo data imported, run Regenerate Thumbnails plugin. 

2. Update Theme

By updating the theme, you will not lose any changes and customizations that you have made to your site, unless you modified the theme files, without using a child theme.

A. Auto-Update

Our themes bundled with powerful Theme Dashboards. You can easily activate theme and use autoupdates. So, we recommend this way to update themes.

B. Install as New Theme

If you can access to your FTP host, you can update theme by simply replacing all files in wp-content/themes/theme_name

But if you want to make it from administration panel, follow this steps:

  1. In your WordPress dashboard go to Appearance > Themes and activate another theme
  2. Delete the current version of theme, that you want to update
  3. Follow the point 1. Install Theme

3. I can't activate Revolution Slider / Visual Composer

Premium plugins such as Revolution Slider may request a purchase code during use. This code is used to provide direct updates and support from the plugins creator and as such is not required or supplied for use with our themes. We don't have rights to resell purchase codes of these plugins, but we have rights to bundle it to themes.

If you truly require auto-updates from these plugins you’ll need to purchase a personal license, please note this is the same for each theme on themeforest that bundles plugins.

4. Update Revolution Slider / Visual Composer / Advanced Custom Fields PRO

To update bundled plugins you need follow this steps:

  1. Remove plugins from admin page Plugins
  2. Install it from Appearance > Install Plugins

Plugins will be installed from Our server. If you still see that there is new version of plugin, please contact us, we will update it on our server.

5. Fatal Error… memory exhausted

This tends to happen on cheaper, shared hosting packages, don’t worry, it sounds so much worse than it is. First see here, and next, consider using a better webhost/hosting package!

6. Can't finish Demo Data Import

The most common problem is the timeout issue which is caused by a low-value set to the max_execution_time, upload_max_file_size and post_max_size directives. See here for more info
